Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 1st August 2025

These Terms & Conditions (”Terms”) govern access to and use of the European Founders Network website, community, and related membership services (collectively, the “Services”). By applying for membership, creating an account, or paying the membership fee, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

We provide community membership to founders and related resources. Certain parts of the Services may be provided online only.

2. Eligibility & accounts

1. You must be at least 18 years old.

2. Membership is intended for founders and entrepreneurial professionals. We may require information about you/your business during the application process.

3. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit and for keeping your account credentials confidential.

4. We may refuse or revoke membership where eligibility criteria are not met or for breach of these Terms.

3. Application, approval & onboarding

1. Application. You submit an application form with requested information.

2. Review. We assess applications at our discretion against community criteria.

3. Decision. If approved, you will be notified and your membership will be activated. If not approved, we will inform you; there is no entitlement to membership.

4. Onboarding. Once your membership is approved, we grant access to member areas and resources and may provide onboarding materials or calls.

4. Membership term, renewal & cancellation

1. Term. Membership runs for 12 months from the payment confirmation date (the “Term”).

2. Auto-renewal. Unless cancelled, memberships renew for successive 12-month periods. We may periodically confirm your continued eligibility and/or update membership terms.

3. Cancellation before renewal. You may cancel renewal any time before the end of the current Term in your account settings or by contacting us at contact@europeanfounders.net. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively change the current Term.

4. Changes to membership model. We may modify the membership model (for example, introducing new tiers or benefits). If we introduce a model that includes paid tiers or charges, we will provide clear information in advance and you will not be enrolled into any paid tier without your explicit choice.

5. Future paid services

Membership in the European Founders Network is currently provided free of charge.

We may in the future offer optional paid or premium services, products, events, or membership tiers to the community. If we do so:

• We will clearly describe what is paid and what remains free.

• Any paid offerings will be subject to additional or updated terms, including information about applicable fees, taxes, and your statutory rights (such as any withdrawal rights for consumers where required by law).

• You will only be charged for such paid offerings if you actively choose to use or subscribe to them.

6. Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)

If you are a consumer (i.e., using the Services outside your trade, business, craft, or profession) and your habitual residence is in the EU/EEA, you generally have a 14‑day right to withdraw from distance contracts without giving any reason.

1. Period. The period expires 14 days after the day we confirm your membership (contract conclusion).

2. How to withdraw. Notify us by e‑mail to contact@europeanfounders.net with a clear statement.

3. Early access waiver. If you request or accept immediate access to the Services before the 14‑day period ends, you acknowledge that we start performing the Services and you may be charged a proportionate amount for the period used or lose the right to withdraw once the service has been fully performed. We will present this choice during checkout/onboarding.

4. Refunds after withdrawal. If you withdraw in time (and have not lost the right as above), we will refund payments without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we receive your notice, using the same payment method unless you agree otherwise.

If you sign up as a business/entrepreneur, the consumer withdrawal right does not apply.

7. Community rules & acceptable use

To keep the community valuable and safe, you agree to:

1. Be respectful and professional. No harassment, discrimination, hate speech, illegal content, or spam.

2. Protect confidentiality. Treat other members’ non‑public information, private forum discussions, and event content as confidential unless you have clear permission to share.

3. No scraping or misuse. Do not scrape, copy at scale, resell, or commercially exploit member directories, content, or access credentials.

4. Security. Do not probe or attack our systems. Report vulnerabilities responsibly to contact@europeanfounders.net.

5. Compliance. Follow all applicable laws, including competition/antitrust rules (no price‑fixing, collusion, or sharing competitively sensitive information).

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

8. Events & third‑party services

1. We may host online or in‑person events. You participate at your own risk and must follow venue and organizer rules.

2. Some features integrate third‑party services (e.g., video platforms, payment providers). Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for third‑party services.

9. Content & intellectual property

1. Your content. You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content solely to operate the Services and display it to other members as intended. You represent you have the rights to upload/share it.

2. Our IP. We (or our licensors) own the Services and all related IP, including logos, software, designs, and content. Except for the limited rights granted here, no rights are transferred. Do not use our trademarks without written permission.

3. Feedback. If you provide suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty‑free license to use them without obligation to you.

10. Privacy & data protection

We process personal data as described in our Privacy Notice available on the website. This includes data processed to administer membership, operate the community, and handle payments via Stripe. Please review it carefully.

If we act as a controller with Stripe as an independent controller, each party is individually responsible for their compliance. Where we use processors, we have appropriate contracts in place.

11. Disclaimers

1. The Services provide networking opportunities and general information only. We do not provide legal, tax, or investment advice.

2. We do not guarantee outcomes from membership (e.g., funding, partnerships, or hires).

3. The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by applicable law.

12. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (e.g., for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for intentional misconduct). Subject to that:

1. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g., loss of profits, business, data).

2. Our aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Services during any 12‑month period is limited to the amount of fees you paid to us for that period.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your content or your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you materially breach these Terms, harm other members, or risk legal liability for us. You may terminate at any time by cancelling renewal (Section 4). Upon termination, your right to access member areas ends.

We may keep minimal records as required by law (e.g., invoices, tax records) after termination.

15. Changes to the Services or Terms

We may update the Services and these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you in advance by e‑mail or in‑app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Governing law & disputes

1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without regard to conflict of law rules.

2. Courts of the Czech Republic shall have jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections.

3. Consumers may also submit disputes to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority for out‑of‑court resolution (see Section 1) and may use the EU ODR platform (see Section 1).

17. Communications

We will send you service, billing, and legal notices by e‑mail to the address associated with your account. You must keep your contact details up to date. You may opt out of non‑essential marketing e‑mails at any time.

18. Miscellaneous

1. No assignment without consent. You may not assign your rights or obligations without our prior written consent; we may assign to an affiliate or in connection with a merger or sale.

2. Severability. If any provision is invalid, the rest remains effective.

3. No waiver. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

4. Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays due to events beyond reasonable control.

5. Language. This English version governs. Translations are for convenience only.

Appendix A — Community conduct (examples)

• Be helpful and constructive; debate ideas, not people.

• No mass messaging, scraping, or unsolicited pitches.

• Respect Chatham House Rule when indicated.

• Use directories and intros responsibly; get consent before sharing others’ contact details.
