FAQ
What is EFN and why should I join?
European Founder Network (EFN) is a private, founder-only community for people building in or for Europe. It’s a place to trade hard-won lessons, get practical help fast, and meet peers who actually understand your day-to-day. Beyond conversation, EFN curates programming (AMAs, roundtables, workshops) and is building founder-centric tools like an Investor Review platform and a European Grant Map. The goal: save you time, reduce avoidable mistakes, and expand your warm network across countries and stages.
Who can join, and how do you verify founders?
EFN is strictly for founders—solo founders or co-founders of startups and product ventures. You don’t have to live in Europe, but your work should be tied to European markets or ecosystems. Verification: every application is manually reviewed. We look for public proof points such as: • Company website or product page • LinkedIn profiles of you and the company • Registry listings, press mentions, demos, or repositories If something isn’t clear, we may ask a couple of short follow-ups. Investors, agencies, and service providers aren’t admitted as members (they may be invited as clearly labeled guests for specific sessions). Your co-founder is welcome to apply separately and must pass the same review.
What do members get once inside?
You’ll get 12 months of access to: • The community: channels to ask for help, share wins/mistakes, swap intros, and crowd-solve problems (hiring, sales, fundraising, product, ops, internationalization, and more). • Events: regular online AMAs with operators/investors, small-group roundtables, and hands-on workshops. Where speakers agree, we publish recordings and notes. • Investor Review (WIP): a founder-contributed directory with structured, constructive reviews of investors and funds—designed to help you target outreach, prepare for meetings, and avoid mismatches. Reviews are moderated (no doxxing or confidential deal terms). • European Grant Map (WIP): a browsable index of non-dilutive funding across Europe (focus, eligibility, amounts, timelines, and official links). Treat it as a starting point; always verify details on the official source. Most discussions happen in English. Local-language threads or meetups can spin up when helpful.
How do I apply, and how long does it take?
Apply with your founder profile, company link(s), and any proof points you have. We manually review submissions and typically respond within 1–3 days. If approved, you’ll receive activation instructions; if we can’t verify founder status, we’ll explain what’s missing and you can reapply when ready.
What does membership cost, and how do renewals/refunds work?
Membership is €50 per year (token member fee) for 12 months of access. You’ll pay after your application is approved. • Renewal: we’ll remind you before your year ends; renew for another 12 months at €50. • Refunds: if we cannot verify founder status, we won’t activate your membership and the fee (if paid) will be refunded. For active members, cancellations stop future renewals; the current term remains active.
How is the community run—moderation, conduct, and privacy?
We look for public signals like your company website, LinkedIn, product landing pages, public repositories, press, or registry listings. We may follow up with a short questionnaire or a quick call if needed.
